Dried Cherry and Almond Biscotti with Tea

Baking is new for me, it has never been easy and many times I am disappointed at the outcome. For my New Year's resolution I Decided that this was the perfect time to change this perception. I found this recipe online at Food Network.com by Chef Anne Burrell Dried cherry and almond biscotti. The combination of cherry and toasted almonds with a dab of chocolate is genius. Followed this recipe pretty closely with only a few minor changes. The texture was nice and crunchy and the lemon zest brightened and clarified the flavors. This was a relatively easy recipe to follow. What I have learned about baking is that it is much more precise than cooking. You can still be creative but you have to understand the basic fundamentals.

Mysavoryspoon was first started in 2010 as a way to journal recipes that I had collected from cookbooks, magazines, family and friends. Most everything was savory, using legumes and whole grains. Along the way I discovered a love for baking. Now a couple times a month you might see some type of sweet pie or treat.
