BBQ Shrimp with Basil Garlic Oil

BBQ Shrimp with Basil Garlic Oil
This is such a simple recipe, perfect for those crazy weeknights. I bought Tiger shrimp from Costco in the shell, they had already been deveined. All I did was marinade them for an hour in a little bit of olive oil, smashed garlic, thyme, a few red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. We threw these on the grill and made a very quick basil garlic oil for drizzling over the top. When I say we put these on the grill I mean my husband did under my direction, hehe! Don’t tell him I said that. Anyway, have a happy and safe evening tonight. Happy Halloween everyone!

Shrimp on the grill
Grilling unpeeled shrimp will make the shrimp flavor pop. We can’t prepare every shrimp meal like this, it’s not always practical depending on the dish. But remember it’s a week night; get messy, have a little fun!

Mysavoryspoon was first started in 2010 as a way to journal recipes that I had collected from cookbooks, magazines, family and friends. Most everything was savory, using legumes and whole grains. Along the way I discovered a love for baking. Now a couple times a month you might see some type of sweet pie or treat.

  7. We watched an insert of The Kitchen last night and Geoffrey Zacharian said not to add salt to the marinade as it starts cooking the shrimp. I've never heard that before. My husband also does the barbecueing under my directiongby ha ha

  9. Oh, this sounds like my kind of meal! It's a bit cold to pull the grill out these days, but I might just have to in order to get these grilled shrimp. They sound amazing! :-) And, yes, I love getting shrimp already deveined, too. Saves so much time!

  14. Love those shrimp from Costco! In China they never take the shells or the heads off, because they say it gives more flavor. Love this simple dish. Often they are the best!

  28. I love when we grill! Ok, I mean I love when my husband grills! He hasn't yet grilled any seafood because he is intimidated by it, but I think this would be a great recipe for him to try. I love your tip about grilling unpeeled shrimp. I would have never tried it that way.
