Glass Apothecary Jars #Infinity Jars

Glass Apothecary Jars
January was the first month of a year-long skill-based cooking project. I decided along with 1600 others to join Marisa’s Food In Jars Preservation challenge. I’m sure you all have noticed the beautiful glass apothecary and kitchen jars in the above picture. They are 100% UV glass which prevents light related deterioration. The lids make them airtight, leak and smell proof. Anyway, I thought these glass jars would be perfect for such an event. About the same time I was contacted by a representative of the Infinity Jar company for a blog post and review of their products. After perusing their site I instantly understood the craftsmanship and quality that went into these beautiful glass bottles. These Infinity Jars are products that I will use and appreciate myself.

Glass bottle with oil spout
I received two ultraviolet bottles; one was a square glass bottle with an oil spout and an airtight plastic screw top. For this jar I made a rosemary infused oil. Now making your own cooking oils is easy. (see recipe below) In fact so easy you have to wonder why we even buy them at all. A few years ago I had purchased and was gifted several infused oils and eventually ended up throwing most of them away. Because once opened, the pour spouts let oxygen in. Yep, you guessed it, the flavor become diluted and the oils became rancid. When you are finished using your oil with this glass jar; you remove the pour spout, and screw on the top. Easy as that, problem solved!

Glass Apothecary Jar
The second is a Apothecary Jar which has a glass lid that forms a glass on glass seal. The glass lid also can be used as a small serving cup. It is the perfect container to store my loose tea that I purchase from a local tea shop. It is so beautiful that I keep it right on my counter next to the stove, ready at a moment’s notice. This is the ultimate storage container for dried goods, herbs, coffee and even homemade mouthwash.

Glass Apothecary Jar and Glass Jar
There are many sizes and shapes of cosmetic jars and bottles to choose from as well. Perfect for make-up, lotions, lip balms, etc. Check out their site here Infinity Jars.com for more options. The jars arrived quickly and each piece was packed carefully in bubble wrap, even the lids. My husband described their packing process as “Cheri approved”. I may or may not drive my family and friends a little crazy when they try and unwrap their carefully sealed presents. They also come with some very nice labels.

To make rosemary infused oil: in a small saucepan over medium heat add 1 cup olive oil with 5 or 6 rosemary sprigs, and cook about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. Transfer the sprigs to a bottle, then add the olive oil. Refrigerate up to 1 month.

Cheri Savory Spoon
Cheri Savory Spoon

Mysavoryspoon was first started in 2010 as a way to journal recipes that I had collected from cookbooks, magazines, family and friends. Most everything was savory, using legumes and whole grains. Along the way I discovered a love for baking. Now a couple times a month you might see some type of sweet pie or treat.

  17. So we've totally been eating toast with tomatoes, mozzarella and a drizzle of basil olive oil lately. We've been using basil olive oil that we got for Christmas, but I bet I could make my own. Actually, that rosemary olive oil sounds like it would work, too! And I love those jars! :-)

  18. It's hard not to be in love with jars if you preserve at all! I wash & save every nicely shaped jar I get and they all go out to friends with some treat (or get photographed for the blog)! Love that pouring spout--looks so elegant!
